How do you plan on sharing all the stories that make your "house" a "home?" How will you ensure your legacy is safely protected and accessible?
Built to last centuries by one of the oldest hand-binderies in America, the Home History Book™ Premier archival journal is a true work of art. This beautiful, one-of-a-kind book -- built individually and in extremely limited quantities -- is intended to tell the stories of the finest homes in the world.
The Home History Book Premier was designed exclusively for Houstory® by one of the world's most respected bookbinders. It is handcrafted using birch wood and covered in imported calfskin leather. Each book takes about three weeks to bind from start to finish and, when complete, weighs in at just over five pounds. Like all Home History Books, the pages are made from acid and lignen-free, archival quality paper that are Smyth-sewn to ensure the longest possible shelf-life. We also worked with the binder and book engineers to come up with our unique 'spacer-page"' design, that allows photos and other material to be added to the book without adding stress to the hard binding, which again ensures that your book will look as beautiful in the generations to come as it does today.
The book includes a sturdy brass nameplate -- custom-engraved with the home's address -- and features our unique door panel design that tells you your journal is an authentic Home History Book from Houstory Publishing.
A wonderful gift, the Premier arrives carefully wrapped in a soft, protective bookcloth and beautifully presented in a custom clamshell-style gift box, created specially for our Premier model. The box doubles as an acid-free, archival-quality storage vessel, similar to one used by most professional archivists. When used with other archival-friendly products and kept in a climate-controlled location, the box is effective for safely storing original photos and documents and other historical material that may not all fit in your book.
The book comes with an archival supply "Starter Kit" that includes some archival quality photo sleeves and an acid-free pen to get you started, as well as a metal bookstand, custom-designed to fit and proudly display the Home History Book Premier.
(If you need help tracking down the history of your home, we have made arrangements with professional home genealogists in select areas of the country to offer a special deal for Home History Book clients. Please inquire.)
Note that unlike our Deluxe book, which is made using a high-quality synthetic leather (which is actually of such high quality most people who first see it are unaware it's not genuine leather), our Premier book is made from the real thing, which means that each book comes with its own unique quirks and bits of "nature's patina." While both the binder and Houstory were very selective and careful, the genuine leather cover will often include minor nicks, subtle striping or other natural animal markings. We believe this adds to the unique character of each book, but if you prefer a "perfect," nick-free, uniformly colored book, you may be happier with our Deluxe model.
Each Premier is individually registered with Houstory and we are happy to send you photos of your own book before purchase as we cannot accept returns of our Premier based on the book's natural markings.
Generally you should allow 3 - 4 weeks for customization and delivery of your archival journal.
Because the Premier is produced in such limited quantities, we ask that you email or call us before ordering to confirm availability.
